Description
Current Lot LOT OF TWO CAST IRON BANKS. J&E Stevens Bird on Roof mechanical bank. One of the first produced by J&E Stevens. The form of this bank appeals to bank collectors and folk art collectors alike. When coin is placed on bird's head, lever is pulled on side of roof and coin is deposited in chimney of house. Second is a Beehive Savings still bank which was produced in England. SIZE: Bird on roof 6" h. Beehive 7-1/4" h. CONDITION: Bird on Roof is very good, but appears to be an early restoration. Beehive Savings is very good. Finial is usually broken or missing, this one is intact. 1-8602, 1-8603 (400-800)
