Description
The tools I am listing tonight are from an elderly gentleman's barn in Windsor Connecticut. He was an avid collector for 50 +years and frequently bought box lots and stuck them away for eager hunters and gatherers like myself. Please be sure to visit my other auctions as everything is starting cheap with no reserve. I'm not even sure what some of the stuff is!... Heres an unusual old saw. I'll start with the etch. Has "Union Manufacturing Company, Electro Steel." Surrounded by 3 crowns. Beautiful old handle with conical domed screws, similar to what Disston had on its #12 in 1875 only these are steel instead of brass. A note about the handle, the bottom horn looks a little flat as if it were altered. Both horns have slight feathering. Unusual nib is extant. All teeth are present and it will rip a board although a rare saw like this should be hung up and looked at. The blade has plenty of rust and localized pitting. I cleaned enough to read the etch, the rest is up to the new owner. I find Union Manufacturing Company in EAIA but I don't think it made this saw. The early etch, Conical domed saw nuts and early comfortable handle make it a nice unusual find. Another interesting feature about this saw is the teeth are cut as a crosscut saw. You know, fleam gullet and bevel, etc. It is a 6 point saw.
