Withington Mechanical Bank Collection  -  one of Dick Withington's of Hillsboro Center, New Hampshire. Dick had an outstanding collection of beautiful antique mechanical banks and he talked about them often and he enjoyed them immensely. He was very proud of his collection. This Tammany bank was manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co., Cromwell CT, Patent No. 145,734, December 23, 1873. To operate the bank you place a coin in the figure's right hand and the weight of the coin causes the hand to lower and deposit the coin into the pocket of the figure. This bank looks like it is all original. It is a real beauty. For over 30 years this was one of many banks that Dick had on display at the Sovereign Bank building in New Hampshire.
