It evokes the spirit the refinement and the luxury that is present in the French culture. In 1864 a new transatlantic liasion become the ambassador of this Art de Vivre.The Transatlantic General Company,also called French Line,embodying that unique Art de Vivre,transported the elite on its majestic ocean-liners linking Europe to the New World.Theatres built like palaces,refined tearooms,luxurious pools and sumptuous suites where artists,celebrities,writers and members of the high society of both continents met and mingled... Joy,romance, and pleasure were the only rules aboard.Normandie,Ile de France or France,amongst others,were the worthy representatives of the French Art of Traveling.Thanks to these magnificent steamers,which cultivated the French Art of Traveling,French artists and master craftsmen become famous abroad.Among these famous designers,jewellers and craftsman,Simon Tissot Dupont emerged as an ambassador of the French Art de Vivre.In 1872 he established a leather goods workshop in Paris and manufactured travel cases.His designs were quickly adopted by the international elite.In the 1920s,kings and queens,politicians and artists were eager to acquire these marvellous pieces and its matchingaccessories.The production of these masterpieces involved no less than 17 different techniques,among these lacquerers,leather craftsmen and goldsmiths.As  the French Line,the suitcases, and later the lighters and writing instruments produced by S.T.Dupont transcend that French Art de Vivre.In testimony of the French Art of Traveling, S.T. Dupont has created this Limited Edition which pays tribute to these legendary liners,which transported the Gotha  and the aristocracy through the Atlantic Ocean.For this Limited Edition,S.T.Dupont took as a starting point the unique architecture of this ships.The brushed steel plates on the lighters as well as the anthracite metal body of the pens evoke the impressive hulls of the ships.The rivets and the grids in relief are reminiscent of the banisters,the rails and the bridges of the steamers.This Limited Edition is composed of two lighters,a Ligne2 and  a Ligne2 Small Size,of three Large Olympio pens,FP,RB and BP pen,of an ashtray and  a key-ring.Thelighters and pens are numbered out of 1864 in reference to the date when the transatlantic liaison between Le Havre and New York was created.The accessories are numbered out of 864.Condition:MintComes: All of its original papers and boxesPictures was taken from my collectionDISCLAIMER:  I am not affiliated with S.T.
